At least 12 people have been killed in a shooting at the site of a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney, Australia.

The European Jewish Association wondered in response to the Sydney Hanukkah massacre what it will take for governments to 'admit that there is a giant antisemitic and antizionist elephant in the room?'

'These bastards will not win,' says Arsen Ostrovsky, a social media personality, chairman of the Jewish Council of Israel-Australia, who was injured in the Bondi terrorist attack.

<p>Chairman of the Knesset Committee on Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs, MK Gilad Kariv on the shooting at a Hanukkah event in Sydney:</p><p>“A horrific tragedy has unfolded in Australia. Our hearts are with the members of the Jewish community in Sydney and across the country. The Australian government must act decisively to ensure the safety of Australian Jews and to combat the scourge of antisemitism.</p><p>I wish to send my prayers for a speedy recovery to those injured. It is the duty of the State of Israel to assist in the fight against antisemitism wherever it rears its ugly head.</p><p>The Committee on Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs will discuss this matter next Tuesday together with the Minister for Diaspora Affairs.”</p>

<p>The Chabad movement announced that one of its emissaries is among the victims who were murdered in a mass shooting at a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney, Australia.</p>

<p>New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said at a press briefing following the Sydney Hanukkah massacre that an improvised explosive device (IED) was found in a vehicle that is linked to one of the shooters who carried out the massacre.</p><p>“We have found an improvised explosive device in a car which is linked to the deceased offender," Lanyon said.</p>

<p>A witness to the Sydney Hanukkah massacre told 9 News that the wounded were being "carried out on surfboards because there weren't enough stretchers."</p>
