Defense Minister Benny Gantz paid tribute to Avi Har-Even, who died three weeks after he was injured in a firebombing in Acre. " I heard with great sorrow about the death of Avi Har-Even, winner of the Israel Security Prize, former director of the Israel Space Agency, and who contributed greatly to Israel's security in ways that can never be recounted. Avi was injured in the riots in Acre and died of his wounds as an Israeli hero. When we give the prize to the winners this year, we will remember him and his contribution," Gantz said.
